Step 1: File a complete application
If you apply online, computer prompts will notify you of incomplete information. If you choose to submit the paper form, read the instructions carefully; missing information can delay or prevent processing of your application.
Step 2: Provide your e-mail address
UC Davis communicates with applicants by e-mail. Provide a reliable e-mail account that you will check regularly and keep throughout the admissions process.
Step 3: Consider your personal statement
The personal statement is an important part of your application for admission. The University uses it to learn more about you as an individual. Early on in the admissions process, review the questions that you will respond to in writing your statement, and give yourself time to write, revise, and thoroughly proofread your statement before adding it to your application.
Step 4: Apply for scholarships
Use the application for admission to apply for all scholarships administered by the University, including Regents scholarships. Many scholarship programs, including those administered by University alumni associations, require applicants to submit additional materials.
Step 5: Report your test results
International students have to meet certain criteria in order to apply for freshman and transfer admissions. UC Davis requires that you provide ALL coursework completed in the United States or abroad. Because it may take some time for schools outside the United States to forward your academic records to the University, you are encouraged to have available legible photocopies of your official foreign academic records.
Step 6: Pay fees
Online applicants will be prompted to pay application fees. The filing fee for international applicants is $70 for each University of California campus. If you’re filing a paper application, you must enclose a check or money order payable in U.S. dollars when you send your form. Fee waivers are available to students who meet strict eligibility guidelines based on household size and family income. If you apply online, you can fill out the fee waiver form included with the online application. If, after review by UC staff, you are not eligible for a fee waiver, you will be billed for all application fees.
Step 7: Print a copy
Keep a copy of your application and personal statement for your files. If you apply online, you will want your Application ID for future reference.
